Dr. Lamar Mickey

Lamar Mickey has over 30 years of serving at-risk youth and families in the California Foster Care System. Lamar has worked in various capacities in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties. Lamar has worked as a social worker investigator within the Los Angeles Dependency Court system. He has worked as a foster care social worker and supervisor in various foster family agencies. Lamar has worked in mental health as a facilitator in the wraparound program. In addition, over the last 10 years, Lamar has worked with Riverside County Public Social Services (CPS) as a Social Services Practitioner III.

 

For the past 25 years, Lamar has coached hundreds of youth and high school football players with the goal of helping them earn college football scholarships. Lamar has helped numerous high school football players earn college football scholarships. Last year, Lamar developed a new passion from his own personal experience of losing his wife of 23 years to cancer. In this new book entitled “By Myself,” Lamar shares his wife’s gracious battle with Cancer, what it’s like to be a caretaker of a loved one, and how he continues to work through overcoming his grief and loss with God’s mercy and grace.
